James Satterwhite first learned about food working with his Grandmother at the family farm and there was first inspired to cook and learned the value and meaning of hard work.
At 16 he started working at local restaurants and started his journey to become a chef.
After 10 years of working in local restaurants he attended the baking and pastry program at the Culinary Institute of America where he earned most outstanding baker of his class.
After completing the program at the Culinary James spent two years training with Francois Collet at Buckhead Bread Company before joining the Ritz-Carlton company. James spent a total of 12 years with the Ritz-Carlton company being Executive Pastry Chef at the Buckhead, Tyson Corners, Naples, Philadelphia and New Orleans properties. The Ritz-Carlton allowed him to work with great Chefs such as Frederic Monti, Norman Love, Celine Plano, Xavier Salomon, Joel Antunes, Lawrence McFadden and Eric Branger. In addition he was a member of the corporate pastry council and participated in 10 openings of new hotels.
James also opened the Mandarin Oriental, Washington D.C. as Executive Pastry Chef.
James is currently the Executive Pastry Chef at Charlotte Country Club.
